Services

We offer services for children and youth with educational, psychological, behavioral and speech and language difficulties.

The clinic provides three main services: full assessment, intervention and treatment, and brief consultation. The particular needs of the child or youth will determine which service or services are recommended.

Assessment

We believe an interdisciplinary assessment provides the most complete profile of each child’s strengths and needs. The assessment includes:

  1. Thinking and reasoning skills
  2. Speech and language skills
  3. Academic skills
  4. Attention and memory skills
  5. Social and emotional functioning
  6. Behaviour and adaptive functioning

The assessment is integrated with information from the child’s home, school, and community, which allows us to develop recommendations and next steps. We share meaningful and personalized feedback with you and your child and we also share assessment results with schools or other community partners. We also follow-up after the assessment so we can help solve questions and needs that may arise.

Intervention and Treatment

We provide intervention and treatment services for children and youth either individually or in groups. Our psychology graduate students provide individual treatment for a range of needs related to mental health and behavioural challenges, either through one-to-one therapy with the child/youth or through working with parents and caregivers to implement strategies and programs. Our speech and language pathology graduate students provide individual treatment for a range of difficulties impacted by speech and language skills. Information on group treatment services for children and youth will be forthcoming with services helping youth who struggle with anxiety or with emotional coping skills.
